The most efficient watering method available, drip irrigation, brings moisture directly to the plants that need water. Conventional sprinkler systems loose 30% to 70% of total water to evaporation and run-off, where drip irrigation minimizes water loss losing almost no water to evaporation. Drip irrigation systems can be on the surface or buried below the soil. The reduced flow rate and elimination of airborne water delivery makes these systems significantly more efficient.
