Interior doors should be selected for their resource conservation value in addition to aesthetics and economic value. No longer is it necessary to hang solid wood doors created from old-growth trees. Other more efficient options are available to consumers.
Interior door choices include hollow core doors of various sheathing materials. This allows homeowners to choose the look they want without requiring the mass of slowly renewable materials in the product.
Interior doors should have adequate undercut to maintain balance in the HVAC system. Be sure the airspace from the undercut is still sufficient after replacing carpeting and padding. Allow enough space beneath the door to ensure air flow and return air egress if necessary.
